Thanksgiving 2014
Giving Thanks.
Our NDI family is feeling pretty darn thankful this year as we welcomed a new baby for one team member and celebrated the nuptials of another. We’re also on our way to finish close to 50 homes by Christmas. Feeling thankful is an understatement.
But while we are thankful for our own blessings, our focus this year has been giving back. In January, we launched NDI Gives Back, a program that gifts each employee with eight paid hours of leave to give back to their community. It was up to each employee to choose how to spend their hours, and it’s been heartwarming to hear their stories of helping others. From sorting clothes and organizing food pantries for needy families to building homes for Habitat for Humanity, our team has been making an impact in our local communities. And for Thanksgiving, NDI has provided Thanksgiving dinners for 18 local families. We’re also a supporter of Operation Turkey, a local organization dedicated to helping thousands of families in Prince William County.
I think giving is contagious, and I hope NDI Gives Back continues to inspire our team and others. I know it has inspired me.
And one last thing. My son Nathan reminded me about something very important. His preschool class created a Thanksgiving Tree. Each child traced and cutout their hand print on which they wrote what they are thankful for.
What he wrote reminded me that as we sit down with our families this Thanksgiving, there are many unable to be with their families on this special day.
Especially those serving in our military overseas.
So let’s say a special prayer of thanks for them this year.
I want to wish you and yours a very happy and blessed Thanksgiving.
Dream Big. Build Smart.
