Gratitude
Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m taking a break from talking about building new homes. Instead, I’m reflecting on some of the things I’m grateful for this Thanksgiving. I’ve been thinking a lot about gratitude lately, as many of us do this time of year. Have you ever actually written down what you’re grateful for? Studies have shown this daily exercise will transform your thinking and make you happier. I’m not sure why I don’t do this more. I guess it’s easy to get bogged down in the negative. There is so much of it out there.
But not today.
Here are a few things I’m grateful for…
My Country.
We’re not perfect, but we are so great. I’m humbled by the service of our military and their families as well as our police officers, firefighters and other first responders. They’re going in when everyone else is trying to get out. They often spend the holidays away from their families, and they do it without complaint. They are American heroes, and this country wouldn’t be what it is without them. Grateful.
My Team.
I could do an entire post on this team. They inspire me. They impress me. They work hard. Their heart is in everything they do, and they do it with integrity. I was at a settlement recently and a client said something that struck me. He said we do the right thing when no one is watching. That’s integrity. Grateful.
My Able Body.
It is not perfect, but it is able. I am able to play with my boys. Run with my girlfriends. Walk on the beach. I am able. Grateful.
My People.
These are the people we do life with. The people we support and who support us. I can’t imagine a step without them. Grateful.
My Family.
I couldn’t find pictures of them all (and there are a lot of them!) but my family is everything. They let me be goofy. They know me the best (the good and the bad) and yet they still love me (and tolerate me!). Especially Paul. He is a gift from God. Grateful.
What are you most grateful for this Thanksgiving?
